**As with all KindWorks projects, when you register you do so with the understanding that volunteering may involve physical activity, the handling of sharp objects and cooking apparatus, the lifting of heavy objects, contact with unidentified and unfamiliar persons, and will require the exercise of reasonable care to avoid injury and/or damage, and you agree to assume any and all risks of personal injury or property damage. Please inform the project leader if you prefer not to have your picture possibly published on social media.

Join Julie and Ellis Garel as they fully furnish and fill a warm and welcoming home for a family starting over.

The family who we will be helping for Valentine’s Day, 2020 is a brave young Mom who was forced to flee domestic violence, and her 2 sons – aged 7 and 9 yrs old who have just moved into their own new safe apartment, but did not have anyone furnish, stock and setup things for them.  Let’s set them up with all that they need so that starting over can be as seamless (and successful) as possible!

If you want to help but don’t have what is needed, and aren’t available for the setup itself, please consider making a financial donation that will be used to support this family, or future home setups for people in similar circumstances.  (Donate to support KindWorks)

Please contact Deb (deb.lang@DoKindWorks.org) with questions.

Many, many thanks! – Deb

Join Julie Garel and Ayanna McKnight as they furnish a home for a young woman client of My Sister’s Place in DC, who was forced to leave her previous home to escape domestic abuse.

We are now expecting to support a young Mom, her 7 year old daughter and her 7 month old daughter!

Please see if you (or those you know) have any of the needed baby items to share as we’ve now added them to this sign up sheet.  We are hoping to do the apartment setup on Saturday, June 15th.  We’ll send more info regarding the setup to all who are signed up as soon as it is available.

If you want to help but don’t have what is needed, and aren’t available for the setup, please consider making a financial donation that will be used to support this family, or future home setups for women in similar circumstances.  (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=KG56YHNSUFEL6&source=url)

KindWorks is thrilled to beautifully furnish the newly secured apartment for Monica and Pete, a couple recently profiled in the Washington Post because they had been left homeless after the building in which they were living was condemned.  After living in tents on the streets in DC for 2 years, a crowd funding campaign has raised enough money to enable these two people, and their dog, to secure a home once again!   We will transform their new empty apartment into a fully furnished, warm and comfortable home for them all. We invite you to join us for an hour or two to unload and arrange furniture, organize the bedroom and kitchen, put together and make the bed, and hang art. Many hands make light work and it’s a lot of fun! *

Please email deb.lang@DoKindWorks or call (301) 246-2452 at any time in the process if you have questions.

Many, many thanks!

Sincerely, Deb Lang and Alexa Abdelatey

Thanks to the kindness of Carol Ross, who recently celebrated her birthday, and her family and friends’ responsive generosity, KindWorks will prepare the apartment for an 8 months pregnant survivor of domestic violence when she moves into an apartment from My Sister’s Place Shelter.

Using the many gifts from Carol’s community, we will transform an empty apartment into a fully furnished, warm and comfortable home. Come for an hour or two to unload and arrange furniture, organize the bedroom and kitchen, put together and make the crib and bed, and hang art. Many hands make light work and it’s a lot of fun! **
