Interfaith Women’s Center (Coffield Ctr) – weekend lunches
We’d love to have you help us bring some delicious and nutritious food, including this lovely lunch to the ladies at the Interfaith Works Women’s Center at the Coffield Community Center in Silver Spring. It’s your decision whether you want to drop off bagged lunches, or hot lunches, and whether you want to provide for 25 ladies, or for all 50 ladies at the shelter.
If you are interested in earning SSL hours for this community service, 2 hours can be awarded for 25 sandwiches/meals.
Three things to please keep in mind before you sign up:
- Only signup when you have a very high certainty that those advanced dates will work for you
- Write down in your calendar what you signed up to bring, and
- Remember that each volunteer attending should sign up for their own distinct volunteer spot. (not as important now that we are not able to help serve, but rather to only drop off the various parts of the meal)
These best practices ensure that the ladies will have some terrific meals and that each volunteer knows that the part that they are doing is important and making a big difference. Thanks in advance for complying with them!
For creating bagged lunches here are the shelter’s guidelines:
Bottled Water and/or Juice
Assorted Sandwiches
Turkey and cheese
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Roast Beef and Cheese
Cheese and Veggie on whole wheat bread or wheat wraps
Fresh Fruit or Fruit Cups (oranges, peaches, and grapes are preferred)
Bag of chips and/or granola bar
Yogurt or cheese stick
Napkin and disposable utensil when necessary
Please label the bags with the type of sandwich so we do not have clients going through all the bags. Also you do not need to add condiments because we have some and do not want the bread to get soggy.
