Home Setup for our new Afghan neighbors in Montgomery Village (including their newborn baby boy!)
Date: May 22, 2022
Welcome to the KindWorks apartment setup signup for a resettling Afghan of 6 in Rockville, MD. In addition to mom and dad, there are 2 daughters (aged 7 and 3 years), and two sons (5 years old and an absolute newborn, expected May 16th!). Your contributions will help turn an empty apartment into a warm and welcoming home for this growing family! Your willingness to jump in and help is truly special and deeply appreciated. Let make sure that by the week after their baby is born, they have what they need to really feel at home in their new space!
IMPORTANT: Decorating Tip: Mom loves grey, navy and burgundy and has some beautiful large living room sitting pillows in those colors.
Alternatively or in addition, if you would like to make a donation to help with KindWorks Home Setups, please click HERE. Thank you, in advance for your donation which helps us to meet the needs of these incoming families.
Whether you are new to KindWorks or are an experienced volunteer, please take a few minutes to read the information below.
A WORD ABOUT QUALITY: We ask that you please donate either very gently used or new, quality furniture and furnishings. We thank you in advance for making sure that all donated items are clean (without stains and 100% pet-hair-, cobweb- and smoke-free) when donated.
LINENS: Please label or tag the bag for all bedding (mattress pad, sheets, blankets, comforter/duvet and bedcovers) BY SIZE as twin or queen and bundle sets together — without marking on the actual linens. Unfortunately, we cannot use full or king-size bedding. As noted above, new or VERY GENTLY used linens are great! Worn sheets and towels won’t work.
IMPORTANT: Please bring only those items for which you have signed up UNLESS you have been in touch and received confirmation to bring specific additional items. We so appreciate your generosity and your understanding!!
COVID PRECAUTIONS: ALL volunteers should be fully COVID vaccinated and need to be masked.

Many, many thanks! – Julia, Deb and the Home Setups Team
