Home Setup for our new Afghan neighbors: 3 young adult cousins living together in Bethesda, MD

Date: March 13, 2022

Welcome to the KindWorks apartment setup signup for 3 newly resettling young adult cousins from Afghanistan!  They are two women and one man, all in their early 20’s.

Your contributions will help turn an empty apartment into a warm and welcoming home! Your willingness to jump in and help is truly special and will be so deeply appreciated by these people.  Although the overwhelmed resettlement agency left them largely on their own to acquire the needed furniture and furnishings, let’s make sure that by the end of the weekend they have what they need to really feel at home in their new space!

Exciting news:  we’ll be setting up this home on Saturday from 12-2pm.   Only a limited number of (fully vaccinated and masked)  people will be in the apartment, cleaning, putting things away, setting things out, making beds, and hanging wall art and mirrors. Items can be dropped off on Thursday from 1:30-2:30pm, on Friday from 11am-3pm, or Saturday from 12-1pm.  Please let Sheryl know if none of these times can work for you!

A WORD ABOUT QUALITY:  We ask that you please donate either very gently used or new, quality furniture and furnishings. We thank you in advance for making sure that all donated items are clean (without stains and 100% pet-hair-, cobweb- and smoke-free) when donated.

LINENS: Only twin bedding will be needed for this home. As noted above, new or VERY GENTLY used linens are great!  Worn sheets and towels won’t work.

IMPORTANT: Please deliver only those items for which you have signed up UNLESS  you have been in touch and received confirmation to bring specific additional items. We so appreciate your generosity and your understanding!!

THE PROCESS FOR DELIVERY:    If your item is too large for you to transport and you are not able to make another arrangement for transport – please contact Sheryl to see if we might be able to help arrange.

The setup lead for this project is Sheryl.  If you have questions, you can reach Sheryl by email at sheryl.israel.bloch@gmail.com or by text at (202) 277-8587‬.

Many, many thanks!  – – KindWorks Home Setups Team
