SUMMARY:Home Setup for Ahmadi Family of 5 in Riverdale MD
DESCRIPTION:  \nHelp create a home for a newly resettling Afghan family\, a household of 5\, mom\, dad and 3 children!  Let’s welcome them to our community by turning their mostly empty space into a warm and welcoming home!  Your willingness to jump in and help is truly special and deeply appreciated by this family. \nWe ask that items are dropped off directly with the family as soon as possible by contacting Dad directly by text and arranging to meet them at your earliest convenience.  We hope that you can participate and take advantage this wonderful opportunity to meet the people we serve and to welcome them to our community!  You can also order things to be sent directly to them – you will receive Dad’s name\, contact info and address upon your signing up for things.  (If you do that\, please do let him know what you are sending\, so he can be on the lookout for the package(s).  \nDonation Guidelines\nFurniture must be in very good condition\, with no chips\, tears\, or stains. Other household goods should be new or very gently used. In addition\, all donations must be clean and completely free of pet hair\, cobwebs\, and cigarette smoke. For donated bed linens\, package same-size linens together in a bag or box that is labeled with the bedding size contained therein.  \nPlease ONLY bring those items for which you have signed up unless you have been in touch with Abdullah (the Dad) and received confirmation to bring specific additional items.  The family of 6 will be living in small space (a basement apt)\, so  Less is More!! SUMMARY:Monthly Giveaway for Refugees and Newcomers
DESCRIPTION:Together\, let’s create a tapestry of hope and support for refugees and newcomers in our community.  \nJoin us for our Monthly Giveaway\, where we come together to share essential items and warm smiles. Held on the third Thursday of each month from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM at 6155 64th Ave\, Riverdale\, MD 20737\, this event provides toys\, kitchen items\, home supplies\, and clothing to those in need. We invite you to contribute and volunteer in one of three ways: \n\nDrop Off Donations (12:00 PM – 1:30 PM): Simply drop off your donated items at the given address. Whether it’s gently used toys\, kitchen supplies\, or clothing\, every donation makes a difference.\nDonate & Set Up (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM): Bring your items and stay to help us set up and welcome participants. This is a rewarding opportunity to interact with refugees and provide support personally.\nHost & Clean Up (1:00 PM – Until Cleanup is Finished): Join us without donations but lend your time and energy to organize\, host\, and wrap up the giveaway. Your help with cleaning up and making sure everything runs smoothly is invaluable.\n\nNote: If you have time and are interested\, you are welcome to join us from the beginning until the end of the event or just sign up for the Donate & Set Up section. \nSign up below.
