In 2003 some caring BCC HS parents saw that unlike their more affluent classmates, students who would be the first in their families to go to college were at a tremendous disadvantage, as there were often no adults who were familiar with the American higher education system to help them successfully navigate the complicated maze of gaining admission to college and securing enough financial aid to attend. In collaboration with BCC HS administrators, counselors and staff, they created CollegeTracks to turn dreams of college into reality for all students. Since then CollegeTracks has served more than 9,000 students! CollegeTracks students have enrolled in postsecondary education institutions and graduated at a rate that far exceeds the average for low-income students nationally and for those in MCPS.
